Question. As you read that did you believe it? Probably. Why? Is it because we think to achieve something difficult we have to be hard on ourselves? I’ll bet you speak to yourself in a way you would never consider speaking to an acquaintance. Why do we treat someone we barely know better than we treat our closest friend? (That would be ourselves, btw) We treat others with common human courtesy, respect &amp; compassion. So treat yourself the same way, with common human courtesy, respect &amp; compassion. Oh, &amp; what did the people who achieved change really practice? Self Compassion!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You know those people that wear their ability to function on very little sleep like a badge of honor? Ex: “I’m so bad ass &amp; efficient that I live on 5 hours of sleep a night &amp; I am awesome!!” (OK…I admit I used to be among those ranks &amp; I loved saying it, although I really just felt like crap for years.) Guess what? There is no physical benefit to not getting a full night sleep. Instead there are quite a few detrimental effects. Such as, reduced resting metabolic rate (read: body burns fewer calories), diet induced thermogenesis (read: body burns fewer calories), &amp; a tendency to take in more calories. Which all adds up to an inefficient metabolism. Not badass at all. However, getting 8 hours of sleep, having a well-rested body &amp; mind, &amp; metabolism that burns fuel like a rocket…that is awesome!! Now, go to bed!</p>

Our bodies are truly amazing at becoming efficient. Good, right? Wrong! Efficiency is not good when it means that you have mastered your 30-minute elliptical workout that you repeat 5 times a week. Efficient = burns fewer calories. I have another saying for you, “No pain, no gain”. Roughly translated, if you’ve gotten so good at your workout that it’s pretty comfortable for you then it’s time to try something new. TRX, Yoga…Shoot, pull out an old Tae Bo DVD. Anything different will challenge your body &amp; restart that calorie burn that comes from inefficiency. New saying, “To hell with perfection”</p>
